Boxing superstar Hector "Macho" Camacho poses for a portrait in Fort Lauderdale for Joshua Prezant Photography after a three-hour workout at Warrior's Gym in late 2002. This image can be seen in the new Showtime documentary "Macho : The Hector Camacho Story" by director Eric Drath, which premiered this past Friday and will be streamed on Showtime On-Demand. The documentary coveres the flamboyant heyday of this amazing boxer as well as the dark drug addiction that he battled with.
This picture was taken shortly before his fight with Otilio Villarreal in January of 2003 on assignment for The Miami Herald. Be sure to check out this great film..just know going in that this will not have the feel good happy ending.
Camacho was a great subject. He had that 100 yard stare in his eyes. I could only imagine the fear that this look in his eyes gave his opponents as they were about to touch gloves at the beginning of a fight!
